Dream Team Review

Preparing for our wedding was a mixture of fun and stress...though my friends thought, the word "stress" was not in my vocabulary.:) Well, maybe because, I knew right from the start that our suppliers would really deliver on our wedding day, enough reason for me not to show off the stress.:) Well, glad to say that things paid off during our big day. I had my own shares of shortcomings, nevertheless, our chosen ones were able to cover up for those...LOL!:)

It's now my turn to share reviews about the team we've chosen to give us helping hands on our big day. I'd say this is going to be more of a review than ratings, for they have all made Our Day, a day to remember.:)

Superior - Exceeded expectations
Very Good - Met Expectations
Good - Could’ve done more…
Fair - So, so…

Review:
One of the most in demand churches for weddings. CTK was actually the third in my shortlisted churches during preps. Ours was a budgeted wedding, and knowing CTK’s rate, I never thought we would end up getting married here. Before we made our decision to book CTK, we attended mass in the top 2 churches on our list. Both were beautiful churches, but there were no “This is it!” factor. We also considered some things in making this decision like, nearby reception venue for the convenience of everyone and package inclusions. Having the cost on top of the consideration, CTK still topped our first 2 options. It still saved us some thousands despite its rate.

Without hubby seeing it yet, we both agreed to book CTK. I just showed him some pictures of the church and the Parish Hall, let him read the reviews and he said that he was okay with it. So the following day, I went to CTK alone to book our wedding date. We initially wanted December 18th but to my surprise, all the weekends of December 2010 are fully booked, to think it was only April 2009. I thought it was only me who exaggerated in wanting to book that early…hahaha!:) But there were a lot of us, I realized.:) So right then and there, without consulting hubby, I booked for December 20th, 2010.

During Preps:
Ms. Lily, from the Parish Office who’s in charge of weddings is an angel to us.  All our transactions went smoothly.  We even requested to move our precana seminar 2 days before, but she remained sweet and dear, even though she was inconvenienced.

On the Day:
Our guests were in awe when they entered the church.  We did not get any upgrades with the church decor but it still turned out to be beautiful.
Our wedding singer, Kuya Jong, made the ceremony far more special.  I submitted our song list to him less than two weeks before the wedding, and he was not even familiar with my Bridal March, but on the day, during my walk, Jake was all emotional coz Kuya Jong sang my Bridal March like how we envisioned it to be...I was "lutang" at that moment, but I got goosebumps when I heard Kuya Jong singing the song.:)  Some of our guests were asking who our wedding singer is, and some were even looking up at the choir room just to see the person who owns the voice.  They all love him...:)  We love him!:)

Perfect venue for us...several tumblings away from the church lang.:)  Space is just enough for our expected number of guests.  Aircon is good despite the maraming ilaw and my heavy gown, I didn't feel uncomfortable at all.:)

Perfect din for a couple who is on a budgeted wedding, you just have to find a fab stylist which won't hurt your pocket much...and we did.:)

Review:
I've read mixed reviews about Eloquente during the time that we were on a hunt for an affordable yet classy caterer.  Reason enough to have a second thought in booking them.  But after several researches,Eloquente was the only one who met the requirements we set.  On the day of our food tasting, hubby and I loved their food and decided to book them right away.  Another factor that made us decide on booking them, they made it up with their recent clients that time, so I gave them all my trust when we booked them.

During Preps:
Our AE, Grace Contante is so easy to deal with, I don't know if I'm not just an OC bride or she's just really nice.  There were some inclusions in the original package kasi that we don't need because I had them outsourced, and she was generous enough to replace it with another.  The only glitch I can remember with our transaction was that, she forgot our detailing.  We were already at their office when she remembered.  She made bawi naman and did not charge us for the excess heads for our final food tasting.  I was with my mom, MIL, and a cousin kasi that time...and the food tasting is only for two...LOL!:)

On the Day:
Getting Eloquente to cater for our wedding reception, I must say is one of the best decisions we made in prepping for our wedding.  All we heard from our guests were, "Masarap un food, okay un staff, ganda ng reception nyo!!!"  There was nothing I've ever wished to hear regarding our reception but those words.  It was an overwhelming feeling for a hands-on couple like us.  Our main concern kasi e our guests traveled a long way to attend our wedding, and we don't want them eating something that would not make them happy.:)  and Eloquente did not fail us.

The head waiter assigned to assist us really pleased me.:)  Libz and I tagged him as Totoy Bibo.:)  Super-mega assist talaga.  He even asked Libz for the copy of the program so he would have an idea of the program flow.  He never left our side, esp me, super assist whenever I need to go up and down the flatform, adjust my chair when needed, give me my bouquet everytime naiiwan ko sa table namin.  Nakakatuwa talaga.  Sadness coz sa sobrang lutang na feeling ko that time, I forgot to ask for his name.  Anyways, he's the man shown in the picture above.:)

Peso Power:  Php 6,000.00 (Early 2009 Rate)

Rating:  Superior +++++++++

Review:
I contacted Elmer right after booking CTK and CTK Hall.  The least expensive yet not cheap sounds and lights provider in the wedding industry.  We are a proud 2010 Supplier of the Year couple.:)

During Preps:
This is how CTK Hall looks like with its bareness...

It's fun to have a supplier who's turning out to be a friend.  Elmer was not just our lights and sounds supplier.  I remember, Jake and I had a big fight during one those prep days, and the wedding almost did not push through.  I was crying all night and didn't remember how I was able to get to sleep.  When I woke up in the morning and turned on my phone, I saw Elmer's text telling me he's so excited for our wedding and all that.  I replied then and told him I'll find another couple to fill in our slot because ours might not push through...It was Elmer who told me, "Mam, wag po...matutuloy po ang kasal nyo...Ipagppray ko po kayo...maayos din po yan.  Mam, kaya po ako napatext pagkagising ko po kanina, kasi po napanaginipan ko po un green butterflies..."  Those were the most touching words I've ever received from a supplier.  From then on, even if di pa tapos wedding namin, super recommend na ko kay Elmer to my fellow w@wies.

Look at what Elmer did for us...

Need I say more?  Eto pa...

It's a bit small in the picture, but Elmer surprised us with a picture projected behind our table.  He apologized for not asking permission in grabbing our pic from our wedsite...LOL!:)  I love it!  Jake and I love it sobra!:)

The music...Honestly, I can't remember a single song played during our reception except for our dance...LOL!  Ganun ako kalutang sa wedding namin...all I know is that there was never a dull moment and the sound system was great!  Proved myself right during a friend's wedding last January 14th, all the timing of each music was perfect!

Super highly recommended!!!

Vignette Photography
Peso Power:  Php 38,000.00 (2009 Bridal Fair Rate)

During Preps:
Ms. Yayie, is such a dear.:)  Super daling kausap.  During booking, I only had 4k with me, sabi kasi nun napagtanungan ko (not a Vignette Staff huh), a certain percentage lang ng package price un DP.  So I only brought the amount...but 10k pala ang required DP.  I thought of booking another supplier and would just come back to book Vignette.  Unahin ko na lang sana un photobooth (hehehe!  a must talaga ang photobooth for me).  But Ms. Yayie told me okay lang to pay 4k muna for the DP, deposit ko na lang through bank un remaining amount.  Winner!!!  On that day, I was able to secure our wedding date with them.:)

During Prenup:
Jake was my biggest dilemma during prenup planning.  I did not prepare for any props kasi sobrang mahiyain si Jake.  Sasama lang loob ko if mag-effort ako tapos we won't be able to use it pala.  Comes our prenup pictorial, super cool ng photographer namin, and Jake enjoyed the shoot sobra.  He told pa that I should've brought props for us to use...waaaahhhh!:) No achuchuchu pictorial materials were use...just the natural light surrounding us and a really nice jake's-dream-lens captured our lovely photos...pictures were taken just the way we wanted it to be...btw, we did not give specific instructions to Henry but he surprised us of our dream pictures...:)

Here is the link for some of our fave shots...:)

Suarez Wedding Rings
Peso Power:  Php 15,100 (2009 rate)
Details:  Style HW, two-tone (wg & yg), matte-finish wg, flat

Rating:  VG

Jake and I are not into jewelries and we both prefer simple wedding bands.  We browsed through different websites to search for the one and found 3 options from Suarez.  So off to Suarez branch I went and when I saw the actual rings of the ones we found on the web, I realized those were not the ones for us...I knew even Jake wouldn't want rings as heavy as those.  So lesson learned, don't rely on pictures found on the website...coz they might look good but they also might not be the one you're looking for.  Then I found this perfect pair and I knew, Jake would love it...I wasn't mistaken.:)  What's best...it costs less than the first options we had...sa sobrang di kami mahilig sa jewelries kasi, I didn't realize na oo nga, the heavier the ring, the more gold is being used, hence, the pricier.:)

A big plus in getting Suarez, so nice the salesperson who attended to me since Day 1 of my transactions with them.:)  She answers all my questions na sobrang dami without being snobbish...I experienced kasi being taken for granted when I was inquiring at Karat World in Mega.  Like na like ko pa naman un ring dun na isa.  Kaso with the kind of service that tindera showed, never mind na lang.  Anyways, sa Suarez, super accommodating ng mga tao...another big plus is that they took time in texting me that at this specific date e they will be increasing na, so I can make habol sa old rate.  I love their customer service talaga.:)  And we sooooo love our wedding bands.  Ours may be the least expensive model they have in Suarez, but we love 'em nevertheless.:)

Amaranthus Florist
Peso Power:  Php8500.00 (whole ento flowers)
Venue Styling:  Rate Undisclosed

Rating:  Superior

During Preps:  We were inclined on booking a supplier from Dangwa since a lot of people say that it is the haven for affordable flowers.  Good thing that I went with a friend in inquiring directly at Dangwa for her wedding and learned about their rates.  When we booked Eloquente, Ren was there and offered to supply us with our ento flowers including my bouquet.  I find their rate to be almost the same as those in Dangwa, so after a few days, I texted Ren and inquired him about the rates for the quantity of bouquets and boutonnieres that we need.  To my surprise, he gave it to me for the same rate as that of the published one, take note, without me asking for freebies nor discount huh.:)  So hubby and I decided to book Amaranthus for the flowers of the whole ento and my bouquet.:)

Days before our wedding, Ren texted me asking if I wanted to add drapes to our venue...I was a bit hesitant kasi additional expense na naman...okay na kasi ako with moodlights, I saw na kasi the venue with the moodlights lang, and hubby and I are both okay with it na.  But my mom saw a pic na meron syang drapes and everything, so she requested for one...hesitant pa rin ako despite the request of my mom kasi nga, I don't want naman to ask money from her just to add the drapes.  I was looking for options na para madagdagan un styling ng venue at no bonggang expense for us.  But Ren, gave a bonggang bonggang discount so ayun, napa-add kami ng wala sa plano...hahaha!:)

On the Day:
With Amaranthus Florist, I think we got naman more than what we paid for.  1st is the convenience coz we need not go to Dangwa or a separate supplier to do transactions kasi same office lang sila ni Eloquente.  Second, the flowers were lovely...simpleng tao lang naman kami and we appreciate simple things, but Amaranthus made us really happy with the flowers.  Pulido pa and arrangement, walang natatanggal na ribbons and all that.  Third, I'm happy with my bouquet.  I was hesitant in getting tulips for my bouquet kasi alam ko madali sya mag-wilt.  But my bouquet lasted ng maganda and not wilted.:)  It even stayed in our altar at home for days.:)
For the venue styling, natuwa talaga ko, kasi naman, how much lang ang binayad namin kay Amaranthus, but when we saw the venue, di ko napigil sarili ko to stand at the entrance door to take a long look kahit di pa time na mag-expose ako sa entrance door...hahaha!:)  They made the bare hall super lovely...even my MIL was surprised.  When I first brought her to CTK hall kasi, I knew she felt disappointed as the hall really looks bare.  But during the reception, all I heard from her were all praises.:)  I think I was able to impress her naman with the preps I did.:p  And my dad, natawa ko sa kwento ni mama...kasi pag-akyat daw ni Papa sa venue, napahinto sya ng bonggang bongga and napamulagat sa entrance pa lang when he saw the venue.  Di nya daw expected na ganun kaganda un venue namin, kasi nga super nagtipid talaga kami.:)  Kakatouch when you hear compliments regarding how good your decisions were with your chosen ones.:)  Super love 'em.:)

Shutterbox Photobooth
Peso Power:  Php 9000 (2009 rate)
2hours photobooth rental  + 1 hr free + 20 pcs STD magnets + Customized Backdrop

Rating:  Very Good

During Preps:
Vida Aenelle has been such a sweetheart even before we booked Shutterbox.  Daming freebies and we were impressed with the speed and print quality when we tried it before booking.  Prompt in replying whenever I have inquiries.

On the Day:
Blockbuster esp to my camwhore cousins...:)  super sulit kasi bilis ng printing...bait pa nila kuya technician kasi, kahit papaligpit na sila, tinigil nila nun hiniritan ng mga pinsan ko na papapiktyur pa daw sila...kaya aun nakahabol din ako ng pics with them...lumampas na nga ata sa 3 hours un photobooth but they didn't charge us for an extra...:)  I don't think na nagkaron din ng stop time which is supposed to, kasi nun program nakikita ko may mga nagpphotobooth pa din...:)  buti na lang paisa isa lang,,,hehehe!  kaya i must say na sulit talaga.:)  The only thing na kami lang ata ni hubby ang nakapansin is that they might have not programmed the camera well kasi low res un nagamit nila...un main frame kasi mjo blurred un pic, since un ang malaking picture, pero un small pics sa gilid clear naman.  That's just it...kami lang naman nakapansin...hehehe!:)  Nevertheless, recommended pa rin namin sila.:)

Emcee:  Sweet Casuyon
Peso Power:  Php 5000 (early 2009 rate)

Rating:  Superior

During Preps:
I really wanted Sweet to be our emcee...kahit di ko pa sya napapanood personally huh...I just had that feeling na she's the one for our wedding.:)  Since emcee is included sa package namin from Eloquente, willing ako to remove it from the package as long as si Sweet ang emcee namin.  Buti na lang, pumayag si Eloquente na mag-add na lang kami since Sweet's rate is out of their budget.  So, to ensure na mabobook si Sweet for our wedding, I did the negotiations myself...hahaha!:)  Ako ang nagtext, ako ang nagbook...less work for Eloquente...lol!:)  During the time that I first inquired with her, connected pa sya sa day job nya, and as per feedback, di sya tumatanggap ng weekday wedding, e monday kami...pero try pa rin, wala naman mawawala...she told me na magreresign na sya ng last quarter of 2010...yey!!!  I had to wait lang kasi may out of the country activity daw sya ng December and not sure with the date...tyagaan talaga, I waited for her confirmation before making another move...and with His grace, I received as SMS from Sweet telling me na she's good with our date...weeeeeeeee!!!

On  the day:
All of our guests were impressed with her.  They thought she's a personal friend kasi naman napakapersonalize ng flow ng program.  Super lively and super lovely.:)  Simply awesome.:)  Such a sweet and dear emcee a wedding reception could ever have.:)  Resourceful pa.  She was able to come up with alternatives even at the last minute.:)  I know I made the right decision in waiting for her availability for our date.:)  Super duper recommended to the highest level!:)

So loveee our invites...di halatang Php54 lang each.:)  I wanted to DIY sana our invitations kaso pag compute ko, mahal din magagastos...nun nagpunta kami sa last bridal fair na pde namin attendan, saw Printrade booth and inquired...meant to be ata talaga, kasi ang una nilang pinakita when I inquired were the least expensive invites they have...yet pretty pretty ng invites.  When I got all of it, sobrang happy talaga kasi ang ganda ng kinalabasan, and all copies were super linis.:)  even the cut ng paper were done na malinis.:)  My MIL was so happy when I sent her the invites...ang sosyal daw ng invitation namin.  Siguro daw mahal...hehehe!:)  Highly recommended esp to those who are looking for nice quality of invites at less expensive cost.:)

Jep's Bridal Boutique
Peso Power:
Bridal gown:  Php 8500
BMs gowns:  Php 700 each

Rating:  Good

During Preps:
I've always planned on getting an off-the-rack bridal gown kasi nga budgeted wedding kami and my gown was never my priority.  Pero syempre, I wanted to look good pa din naman.  I've been going to Divi na ng ilang beses because of my DIYs and has been searching for the one...but to my sadness, sa ilang balik ko dun, wala kong magustuhan...nasa-sad na talaga ko and i've thought of getting a designer na talaga, kaso hesitant ako kasi I don't wanna spend more than 10k for my gown alone.  Isang beses ko lang kasi syang gagamitin and for me, hindi makatarungan un...hahaha!:)  Usual na nililibutan ko was Tutuban and un building sa may Ilaya...nada!  One time I was with my mom, nadaan kami ng fiesta mall, so we thought of giving it a shot...and voila!!!  We came upon this store na super accommodating ng mga tao.  They even showed us actual orders ng wedding gowns and my mom was satisfied naman with their quality.  The original design I liked only costs 5k but since pinacustomize ko a bit, it went up to 8.5k...okay na din, kasi duchess satin naman un material and maganda un beadings.

Di naman ako ganun ka-oc when it comes to deadlines from my suppliers as long as mapapasaya nila ko comes delivery day.  I've had several dates moved din like un first fitting ko and even the final delivery of the gowns.  Di ko sila nginarag for my gown kasi when I booked them, I wasn't pregnant...of course we had to move the final delivery date a month later than agreed kasi un measurement ko would definitely change.  Final gowns were scheduled to be picked up ng Dec 10, so I texted them ng Dec 9 to remind kasi ilang beses na din akong nakaexperience na pumunta ko dun na wala pala kong gagawin kasi wala un gown na susukatin ko.  Effort talaga na kalmahin ang sarili kasi ayoko naman isabotage nila un gown ko.hehehe!:)  Hiniritan na naman ako na sa Dec 11 nalang daw kasi di pa napapa-dry clean...I stood firm lang na Dec 10 ko ppickupin kasi I don't have time na to go there some other days...kahit okay lang for me to go there...hahaha!:)  pero pasweet pa din...so aun, nakuha namin on time, and malinis naman un mga gowns...hahaha!

On the day:
I love my gown...it was not the one I envisioned it to be, since some changes has to be made because I got pregnant, nevertheless, happy ako with it.  Sumikip lang ng onti kasi naman di ko naman controlled paglaki ng tyan ko.  I've always wanted a simple gown (di ko kasi afford si Veluz...hehehe!) and they gave me a simple yet elegant one.:)  Even my BMs gowns they all loved 'em.:)  Pulido pa un tahi and the materials di tinipid.  To think 700 each lang un gowns nila.  Nagawa pa nilang magharutan kahit nakagown sila, ganun sila kakomportable...lol!:)  If magpapatahi ako sa Divi, I'd still get them...madali naman kausap e.

Mang Rey Casedo for Hubby's Barong and Pants
Peso Power:  Php 5000 for the Barong, Php 700 for the pants...free delivery pa!

We all love hubby's attire during our wedding...soooo ganda the barong and the pants.:)  mukhang mamahalin.:)  Upon the delivery, napangiti talaga ko, kasi mas maganda pa sya sa mga pricey barongs na nakita namin when we were searching for his attire.:)  Pulido ang tahi...and the fit was perfect...upon delivery huh...e december wedding kami so ang dami nang kainan ang nagdaan...hahaha!  hubby gained a little weight and some fats...:)  sumikip un pants nya sa knya...my mom had to alter the pants, and nagreklamo mom ko, kasi ang tibay ng tahi that she had a hard time doing the alteration...hahaha!:)  the embroideries were delicately done, even from afar, kita un pagkaembossed ng embroidery nya.:)  super recommended!:)

Astoria Plaza
Peso Power:  Php 3000 per room per night (asiatravel.com booking)

Pictures show naman how big Astoria rooms are...:)  Really ideal for wedding preps.:)   My family and hubby's soooo enjoyed our stay in Astoria.  Super spacious kasi ng rooms.  Dami namin sa room nun morning ng wedding pero di kami nasikipan...one lesson lang I learned during that time, 2 separate rooms dapat for the bride and the ento...1 room should be alloted for the bride alone.  Kasi daming pictorials for the bride and the accessories.  If you're looking naman for a grand staircase, nasa photographer yan...hehehe!!!  Astoria's staircase is not as grand as Shang's pero look, napagmukha syang maganda ng photog namin.:)

SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST!!!

VAL VILLARIN (HMUA)

During Preps:
Booked him during the Valentine bridal fair at Megamall.  Destined ata talaga na mabook ko sya...Super dream HMUA ko si Val, but I had to scratch him off my list kasi I find him pricey.  I scheduled a trial HMU with another HMUA for that fair, buti na lang nakichicka muna kami kay Val...he gave us an irresistible offer so, together with my w@w kumares, we booked him on the spot, without any trials.:)  High ako nun, kasi naman, never thought I'd be able to book my dream HMUA for my wedding...:)

On the day:
Val and his team were the first to arrive at Astoria.  8am ang call time, and sakto tlaga...8am andun na sila.:)  Working with him was a breeze...:)  While he was working on my hair, I was working naman on our taper candles but he didn't mind...natatawa lang sya sakin...hehehe!:)  He personally did din my MIL's HMU...si Mama ko di na nya nagawa ayusan  kasi late na dumating sa Astoria parents ko and he was busy na with me nun dumating sila so un assistant nya na un nag-ayos kay Mama.

I super love my HMU during my wedding...I only got praises and nice fluttering comments from every one...most especially from hubby...ilang beses nya ko sinabihan na ang ganda ganda ko daw...hahaha!:)  I was 5 months pregnant with a baby boy back then and un sinasabi nila na pumapangit those buntis carrying a boy was literally true with me, but Val made me blooming with beauty nun kasal namin.:)  I didn't just look good but I also felt good...beautiful actually...hahaha!:)  ramdam ko talaga di ba?  nagbubuhat na ko ng bangko nito...hahaha!:)

Extra Mile:
I signed a contract for Val Villarin to be my HMUA, but during our wedding, he also turned out to be my personal assistant.  Sobrang na-touch ako kay Val.  I didn't hire coordinators for our wedding, big lesson learned.:)  Pero Val took care of me and did more than an HMUA job.
First, my female ento had no van to ride kasi the one we rented was occupied by I don't know whom...all I saw was, it was already full and no space na talaga for my female ento.  Naasar talaga ko kasi naman, the others can take a cab naman but aun prente na silang nakaupo sa van...my dad had no choice but to get a cab para sakyan ng female ento kong naka-gown.  I was naaasar na talaga and nakabangot na ko sa may main door ng Astoria.  Val approach my dad and told him na isakay na ko sa bridal car, tpos punta na kami sa church, sya na daw bahala sa girls...nawala un simangot ko, I love him talaga!:)
Second, upon arrival sa church before my walk.  He got inside the car, retouched my ever oily nose, and calmed me, kasi trulalu, while nasa car ako and tinitingnan ko the people inside the church, biglang naglurch stomach ko...ganun pala talaga...hahaha!:)  Ayun, sabi nya wag ako iiyak...chuva chuva...:)  at eto na ang moment!  wala akong professional coordinators (just had loving helping hands of my w@w kumares kristel and libz...tenchu girls!)...wala akong personal assistant...ang family ko syempre naka-line up for the march...ang relatives ko naman syempre were all excited to see me walk down the aisle since ako ang unang pamangkin na ikakasal ng maayos...ayun, they all forgot na there was no one to assist me to get off the bridal car...bigat kaya ng gown ko, naka 4" heels pa ko, 5 months preggy pa ko...hahaha!  naloka talaga ko sa kanila...but Val never left my side and helped me get off the car...arranged my gown for my grand bridal walk and gave last minute instructions...a supposed to be job of a coordinator.:)

Val is my #1 super highly recommended wedding partner...and I will never get tired of recommending him to other brides-to-be.

**************************************************
Special Shoutout and Big Thanks to my ever loving kumares, Kristel Dizon-Acorda and Liberty Palomo-Quiambao for the loving helping hands they gave us.:)  Forever Jake and I will be grateful for the help you gave us ...Nabawasan ang stress ko because of you girls.:)

To my w@w kumares who made our preps fun and unforgettable, supah tenchu girls!

And to w@w, we will be forever thankful to you because, we did not only find fab suppliers, we were also able to gain friends here.:)  Naglevel up ang pagiging sociable ni hubby because of w@w...lol!:)

To the future brides who are currently prepping for the big day...enjoy every moment, never let stress get in the way...To the future grooms naman, if walang hands on support, bawi na lang sa financial support...hahaha!  Joke!  On a serious note, you'll never know how happy you'll make your brides-to-be when they feel your presence during preps...that's the sweetest wedding gift you may give to your future wife.

To all couples naman, don't just prepare for the wedding...do more preparation for the marriage you are about to enter, because it will not be just the celebration alone, it's the life after the celebration that would matter.
